When I’m Gone (Dedicated to Shirley Anzaldua)

Posted on February 28, 2015

When I’m gone, Remember me, Not what brought me down, Remember me. When I’m gone, Reflect how I loved, Not that I am absent. Remember me. When I’m gone, Picture my smile, Not that I had cancer. Remember me. When I’m gone, Imagine my red bouncing hair, Not that I was taken too early. Remember me. When I’m gone, Think of how I loved to sing and dance, Not that you miss me. Remember me. When I’m gone, Remember how I shared the gospel, Not that you are without me. Remember I am with Jesus. When I’m gone, Just remember me.

Do you hear me?

The weight of the world is so loud. Every individual tramples the other to gain the favor they crave, letting nothing hinder their egocentric efforts of me. Trampled pleas do not cry out for help but most urgently continue to yearn for the object of their burning desire. The world is so loud that those in need absorb the weight of silence in their muffled call of necessity. Help provide for needs. Don’t be a slave to wants. Do you hear me? “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” – Matthew 11:15
